2008 Report:

The weather was threatening but kind, just like the traffic control, and lots of spot prizes were on offer thanks to the generosity of our many event sponsors! It was great to see so many people out after the grand final the day before, to tackle the challenging hills of the Kew Boulevard, and the twists and turns on the Burke Hall ovals, to conquer this years' new "de Castella Run" course. A total of 360 runners signed up for the event with numbers evenly distributed across the three event distances. Well done to everyone who took part, you all deserve a medal!

Our deepest thanks go out to all our many enthusiastic volunteers who helped this event run so well and who gave their time so generously. Thanks also to Victoria Police for their assistance and to Vic Roads, Boorondara Council, and Parks Victoria, and particularly to Burke hall for allowing us to use the course and for their assistance.

For the first time this year, the event has been organised by the Old Xaverians' Athletics Club. The club provides free coaching and access to competition to a large number of runners and athletes from all parts of the community. In the coming years we are determined to make the "de Castella Run" one of Melbourne's most popular, longest running, and best overall fun runs! We hope you will return to help us achieve this goal!!

All the results from each event are posted below so you can see what time you should aim to beat next year!!

Thanks for your support,

The 2008 organisers!
